infectious disease for the 21st century. The first case of the COVID-19 was identified in
December 2019 in China then began to spread rapidly span around the world. Despite the
preventive measures taken against this virus in Azerbaijan since the beginning of 2020,
thousands of people soon were infected and suffered from this virus. In the absence of effective
treatment, an essential tool of health policy is the modeling and forecasting of the progress of the
pandemic. Prediction data can be used in hospital personnel and supplies planning and
vaccination scenarios, the development and assessment of prevention strategies. Recently,
machine learning algorithms are playing essential roles in handling time-series data in different
applications. In this paper, we have applied the Prophet model to predict the number of COVID19 infected cases and death cases that can be expected in upcoming days in Azerbaijan. The
