 Technological breakthroughs in the exploration, drilling and production of oil and gas, the growing problems of the oil and gas complex, as well as the fall in oil prices, predetermined the emergence of an interdisciplinary approach that requires some critical processes to be semi-automated, and some fully automated. In this context, the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the oil and gas complex has gained significant interest and led to the growth of the market in this industry. Artificial intelligence consists of various tools such as machine learning, artificial neural networks, fuzzy logic and expert systems. Together with Industry 4.0 technologies such as big data, the Internet of Things, cloud computing and robotics, artificial intelligence is significantly impacting the industry, helping it develop advanced applications for maintaining and managing infrastructure, making informed decisions in exploration and identifying new oil and gas fields, in compliance with environmental regulations and ensure the safety of workers. This paper discusses and analyzes the application of artificial intelligence technology in the oil and gas industry. The conceptual implementation issues are briefly outlined. The analysis carried out can contribute to the further development of the solution of this issue.
