 In the modern and rapidly globalizing world, under the influence of information and communication technologies, the protection and development of languages, including the languages of national minorities, is of great importance. The paper substantiates the need to study languages from a sociolinguistic aspect, analyzes the factors that determine demographic power. The impact of the globalization process on languages, especially minority languages, projects and programs carried out by international organizations in the field of language protection, and important documents adopted are studied. The state of languages and the level of their use in cyberspace are analyzed, the necessity of identifying and documenting languages in the virtual space is substantiated. Today, new technologies enable the creation of digital functional tools and the introduction of languages into the digital space faster and more efficiently than decades ago. Despite these technological possibilities, the main issue in the period of industrial progress in the age of industry will be the need for minority languages as participants in a new type of communication. The article discusses possible approaches to solving the problem of linguistic protection of national minorities in the context of Industry 4.0. The state, geography and demography, the level of use of national minority languages in Azerbaijan are analyzed. Proposals and recommendations are made for the protection and development of minority languages.
